Creating a New Outbound Webhook
You can create a webhook from scratch or start with an existing example, depending on what you are trying to connect.
- Give the webhook a clear, searchable title
- Choose a POST or GET method
- Enter the destination URL provided by the receiving platform
- Select whether you are sending field data or files
Field data is used for information like names, emails, phone numbers, or loan details, while file payloads are used when sending documents from Shape.
Headers and Payload Type
Some platforms require headers to authenticate incoming data. These are typically API keys or authorization values provided by the receiving system.
- Add required headers exactly as provided
- Select a payload type, most commonly JSON or FORM
- Confirm payload requirements with the destination platform if needed
