Inbound Block List in Shape
The inbound block list is a simple but powerful tool used to prevent unwanted phone calls and text messages from specific numbers. It is especially useful for blocking spam callers, robo dialers, or any number you no longer want to communicate with through the platform.
Blocking a Phone Number
You can block inbound calls and texts from specific numbers directly from the inbound block list settings.
- Navigate to the Block Inbound Numbers settings page
- Click Add New Number
- Enter the phone number you want to block
- Save the change
Once added, that number will be blocked from contacting your Shape phone numbers.
What Happens When a Number Is Blocked
When a phone number is added to the inbound block list, several things occur automatically.
- Inbound calls from that number are blocked
- Inbound text messages from that number are blocked
- Callers hear a busy signal when attempting to call
- Outbound calls to that number are also blocked
Blocking is fully bi directional, meaning communication is prevented both ways.
Removing a Number from the Block List
Blocked numbers can be removed at any time if communication needs to be restored.
- Click the three dot menu next to the blocked number
- Select Remove from block list
After removal, allow a short period of time for carrier updates to propagate. Once complete, inbound and outbound calls and texts will resume normally.
